Determination
“Determination,” designed by me
Several years ago, I saw something on the internet about Endurance. I saved it. Over the years, I changed and added to it. Despite AI searching, I am not able to find the original quote. While I like to give credit where credit is due, in this case I can’t. I will share my version. It is meaningful to me, and I hope it will be helpful for you.
I used to think it was Endurance. Now I call it Determination.
Determination is my ability to keep going, to sustain effective action over time, to bring from within myself renewed commitment and effort despite challenges, setbacks, and hardships.
Determination means that I deal with discomfort and pain. Life has joy and peace – but not always. Determination carries me through the low points back to the high ones.
Determination helps me find resources and stamina I did not know I had. I have faith in myself, my resilience and my potential.
Determination means that I remain steadfast through criticism, monotony, loneliness, doubt, misunderstanding, and discouragement. The world changes – I keep going to the best of my ability. I find the calm in the middle of life’s storms.
Determination requires planning, flexibility, balance, commitment and strength of will. It is a strategy as much as an action.
Determination is not a short-term proposition. It is a lifetime path. It is not a sprint; it is a marathon. I have learned to keep my eyes on the prize. And the prize is not only at the end of the race, it is during the race. I become a reliable person of good character. A friend and a support to others (and to myself). Someone who tries to make my corner of the world a better place.
